Specifics for Laboratory PlanningPointers for Construction Published May 2005
Benefit from specific insights on planning your laboratory from Tradeline's Science Buildings Canada 2005 Conference.
In planning new buildings, keep focused on the "why we're doing this project" and less on the "how." Build science buildings with the realization that they will go through continuous change and renovation from day one. If possible, always build in shell space. It will reduce construction cost over the long-term. If not legally possible, work to change the laws. Don't configure core labs into space in which they cannot grow. Additionally, more science buildings are using interior glass walls to increase interior openness and connectivity.
