There are signs that water availability is becoming a major factor in operating cost and the ability to expand animal programs at existing sites. There are new autoclave designs that can cut water consumption dramatically. Also, the new reverse osmosis units for water purification are much more efficient in terms of water use by virtue of saving on back-flush water.
