Rederivation by embryo transfer can provide a cost-effective option to the costly, space consuming, and problematical quarantine protocols for animal imports. That policy will have significant facility planning implications. Also be aware that cryopreservation is gaining traction in some leading animal facility operations because of the economics involved on it being less costly to house mouse embryos than live mice.
