Project and Change Management

Design decisions and considerations.

Published October 2007 Top-down authority helps maintain project direction.

Establish top-down authority for key project and design decisions, or else individual heavyweight faculty people will start dictating special design elements that will cause budget, schedule, and flexibility problems. One way to effect this is to have a dean or provost present at all project meetings. You should count on substantial post-design project changes. To anticipate this, make change management an explicit part of your A/E agreement.
