Use “state of the industry” research equipment wherever possible to minimize risk. Installation requirements and maintenance are widely known and easily documented. “State of the art” equipment is still going through a learning curve. Generate equipment lists early in the project. The A/E firm can develop space data sheets when they are brought onboard. Pre-populate data sheets where possible and let users just fill in the blanks. It saves time and encourages user participation. Additionally, prepare the building for anticipated equipment early in the project. Finalize fit-out as late as possible.
