A robust HVAC setback system for unoccupied labs that have fume hoods may make heat recovery from lab exhaust un-economic due to the large energy savings already realized with the setback system. The ROI [i.e. payback period] for presence sensors that control air setbacks and lighting levels in labs is about 6 years.
