University of Alberta is pushing forward a radical new model for integrating health education and ambulatory clinical service--a model that is the driver for its new $909-million Edmonton Clinic. Jane Drummond profiles the translational research, education, and clinical thinking at U of A and the corresponding changes in goals and programs of health providers, faculty, researchers, and students, as well as key building components that specifically address translation and interdisciplinary issues. She also profiles how innovations in interdisciplinary scholarship, effective partnership, wellness, and IT will deliver effective, efficient patient-centered solutions and student-focused curriculum.
