The governance of shared space is a critical element for the successful integration of a multi-faceted health science teaching and research program. For the University of Saskatchewan’s new $300 million health sciences center, an operational strategy and associated governance model have become driving forces for the future success of interdisciplinary teaching and research programs. Jim Thornhill outlines the University’s principles about shared space, and chronicles the processes that led to the planning, design and development of shared facilities, and operating policy for integration of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy and Nutrition, Dentistry, and Physical Therapy programs.
