Plans now coming off the drawing boards for totally new academic health science campuses reveal new thinking about efficient medical school operating models and capital investment plans. Here, session leaders examine innovative new operational concepts of two newly planned health science campuses -- British Columbia and Florida -- that are building around the concepts of shared faculty, facilities and funding, and an integrated, multi-profession academic program. They detail special impacts that theses new operating models, teaching methods, innovations in linking research, clinical, and education, and the issue of regional economic development are having on facility and capital planning.
