Fragmented, adversarial, and systematically inefficient construction delivery processes continually lead to budget and schedule overruns and claims -- money is wasted instead of adding value to projects. Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) has been shown to optimize project outcomes and get more project per budget dollar with higher quality results, and the health care industry has been leading the way. Here session leaders set out the key principles, tools, and processes of IPD including stakeholder relationships, business systems, project organization structures, and contract models that Academic Health & Science Centers can use. They use several recent project examples to illustrate best practices, lessons learned, and ways to overcome public procurement obstacles.
This session is approved by the AIA for continuing education credit. Session Leaders:- Zigmund Rubel, AIA, NCARB , Principal - Anshen + Allen Architects
- Jim Bedrick, AIA , Vice President, Virtual Design and Construction - Webcor Builders
- J. Stuart Eckblad, AIA , Director of Design and Construction - University of California, San Francisco Medical Center
