To achieve big financial economies and flexibility of use in research and clinical treatment programs, and infectious disease response capability, plan for a single, shared, multi-use imaging facility. Ken White illustrates how to do that and how it works. He examines cost, staffing, space, and revenue characteristics of the shared-imaging concept along with equipment use and management protocols associated with research/clinical shared-use facilities. He details state-of-the-art imaging technology requirements and the practicalities of creating strong, workable linkages between research and clinical care, plus significant knowledge transfer results from the shared-imaging suite concept.
