New molecular imaging agents that accelerate disease detection and treatment response determination will have even larger impacts on academic medical and health center business models and infrastructure. Juri Gelovani profiles the new non-invasive imaging capabilities and highlights the significant impacts that reducing detection-to-treatment cycle times will have on clinical throughput, revenue, adjacency requirements, core facilities and support programs. He outlines space and equipment requirements for next-generation imaging equipment and support that should be planned for, and identifies resulting opportunities for eliminating space and time overhead costs across the translational research enterprise.
Session Leader:- Juri G. Gelovani, MD, PhD , Professor and Chair - MD Anderson, Dept Experimental Diagnostic Imaging
