Three big, new developments are moving open-lab planning to the next level: 1) technologies that reduce air changes per hour, 2) highly flexible ceiling utility distribution systems, and 3) new, innovative lab furniture options. The result is lower energy cost, greater flexibility, and increased safety. Victor Cardona and Bill Diefenbach detail new HVAC monitoring technologies that lower energy use for "dance floor" labs, and they examine applications of pre-fabricated integrated ceiling service distribution solutions and how they work with a spectrum of very flexible casework systems. They illustrate cost, safety, and overall building planning implications.
This session is approved by the AIA for continuing education credit. This session also qualifies for HSW credit. Session Leaders:- Victor J. Cardona, AIA , Vice President - SmithGroup, Inc.
- William L. Diefenbach, FAIA, LEED AP , Senior Vice President - SmithGroup, Inc.
