Decisions on BSL-3 space for small animals involve a growing number of increasingly complex choices, all of which impact first costs, operating efficiencies, flexibility, and SOPs for regulatory compliance, safety, and security. Here, session leaders examine the design details and financial thinking behind the latest project decisions on suite and pod floor plans, facility logistics, waste stream processing, decontamination, MEP solutions, interior finishes, flexibility features, and equipment purchases. They use Yale’s new Laboratory of Epidemiology and Public Health to illustrate specific decisions and solutions based on life-cycle planning, operations, energy efficiency, maintenance, and equipment access.
This session qualifies for AIA CEU credit. This session also qualifies for HSW credit.
