A new, innovative solution to increase both safety and biosecurity in BSL-rated animal facilities that house multiple programs is the integration of individually ventilated cage rack systems (IVCs) with isolation cubicle systems. Session leaders examine the operational and facility implications of this approach for both inactive and active IVCs, and with the use of a control system that integrates cubicle and IVC environmental control systems. They detail operational factors for science staff and animal care personnel, traffic flows, lean layouts, building HVAC, electrical and automation systems, capital costs, operating costs, and risk mitigation measures.
This session qualifies for AIA CEU credit. This session also qualifies for HSW credit.
Session Leaders:- William R. Britz , President - Britz & Company
- Frank Speck , Bio Safety Officer - St. Louis University School of Medicine
