For maintenance of biocontainment facilities, operational integrity is critical (user and public safety), and operating costs are extraordinarily high. However, NIH has successfully increased system reliability and lowered costs with the implementation of a Condition-Based Maintenance system tailored specifically to biocontainment facilities. Session leaders detail what this program entails, the implementation process, and results achieved for BSL-3 and BSL-4 research facilities. They illustrate specific problems discovered including improper equipment installations, design issues, and maintenance practices, and they profile key management processes, technologies, and implications for staffing and personnel skill-sets.
This session qualifies for AIA CEU credit. This session also qualifies for HSW credit.
Session Leaders:- Jeff Evans, Vice President - Maintenance Strategies, Inc.
- Wayne Wright , Program Manager - Maintenance Strategies, Inc.
- Donna Phillips , Assistant Director of MEO - National Institutes of Health
