Forum Session: Technical, financial, and decision-making details on decontamination processes

The three main contestants for decontamination are VPHP (vapor-phase hydrogen peroxide), formaldehyde, and CD (chlorine dioxide gas). Each has unique characteristics involving chemicals used, capital expense, operating costs, application processes, cycle-times, flexibility, health risks, and environmental impacts. Here, Mark Czarneski digs deep into the numbers on chlorine dioxide gas technology with detailed comparisons to VPHP and formaldehyde methods. He examines the relationship between chamber volumes, cycle-times, and technology selection, and he documents decontamination findings for facilities ranging from a 65-room, 180,000-sf facility to a single pass-through room of a barrier facility.
