Forum Session: Lovelace's comprehensive biosafety program for training, authorization, and tracking


Penny Holeman examines the biosafety program and systems used to track the training, vaccinations, occupational medicine requirements, and security clearances for LRRI’s multi-user, multi-agent research facility. She details the database systems used to select staff who are facility- and study-ready for particular research projects. Ms. Holeman discusses options for optimizing the process of hiring, training, and approving staff to to fulfill an immediate need in BSL-3 labs. She also describes the practices LRRI used to create a "Culture of Transparency" that encourages the reporting of biosafety issues with confidence and cooperation.
