High space utilization, open-plan labs, translational research, and small core facilities. One of the big questions for translational research is, “Where do the research labs go?” Here, session leaders illustrate the integrated lab solution featuring high space utilization, open-lab plans, and distributed core facilities, and they assess plan effectiveness in achieving research, teaching, and patient care integration. Case studies at the International Collaborative on Repair Discoveries (ICORD), Institute of Cell Biology, Cancer Care Manitoba, Child and Family Research Institute, and MaRS Incubator Labs are used to demonstrate planning factors, metrics, features, and construction cost implications.
This session is approved by the AIA for continuing education credit.
