UBC's Faculty of Medicine & UNBC in partnership raise the bar for delivering medical education

Three proven ingredients for building a successful new medical teaching program are: state-of-the-art learning technologies, a research-based learning environment, and a high-design building. Here, Dr. David Snadden evaluates features and key metrics of the new UNBC Donald Rix Northern Health Sciences Centre and renders verdicts on what works and what doesn’t for recruiting students and faculty and creating a vibrant learning and research community. He profiles functional features of space-use flexibility, teaching technologies and equipment, teaching labs, common spaces, and technical infrastructure, as well as investments in high-end exterior and interior architecture.
