Forum F: Investing (or not investing) in flexibility features -- decision-making & the numbers

Flexibility and adaptability. Michael Reagan and Alexander Wing illustrate how U.S. cost-to-benefit calculations and project decisions are being made for research building flexibility. In particular, they examine flexibility decision-making on new research building projects at Rensselaer, Howard Hughes Medical Institute, University of Texas Medical Center, Virginia Polytechnic, and Cornell. They draw out important and timely conclusions about newly emerging flexibility standards, the impact on the future costs of new construction and retrofits, and strategies on when financial decisions about flexibility should be made.
