Energy costs drive investment decisions for the nation's largest preclinical test facility

In order to fully realize the energy cost savings delivered by state-of-the-art animal room equipment, it is necessary to take a technical look at the bigger relationship between a vivarium and the larger building support system. In this presentation, Jeff Williams of Charles River will outline the cost savings associated with investments in condition-based ventilation systems and demand-driven energy supply equipment, using Charles River’s newly renovated 370,000 square foot Reno, Nevada, facility as a case study. Jeff will also discuss user-driven project decisions that serve to reduce energy consumption and water use, as well as monitoring technologies that satisfy AAALAC requirements and enable strategic energy sourcing decisions.
