Forum J: Barrier facilities: Picking new cost-effective solutions from a range of options

Barrier suites come in a variety of flavors. For your mission, however, there's an optimal plan that will save capital dollars, lower your operating costs, and maintain your flexibility of use. Lloyd Fisk profiles key features and metrics of recent barrier-suite solutions, and he illustrates a facility decision-making process based on five components: 1) a decision-making matrix for SOPs, 2) personnel entry and exit plans, 3) material and equipment handling, 4) animal entry procedures, and 5) space metrics. He examines space requirement for specific procedures such as rederivation plus innovative approaches to caging and watering.

This session qualifies for AIA/CES units, including HSW and Sustainable Design credit.
