Upcoming pressures to cut healthcare costs pose a serious threat to the clinical care portion of the integrated AMHSC financial model. Dave Anderson examines three big strategic moves to keep AMHSC financial models strong -- 1) change the mix of care delivery outlets, 2) make facility design decisions that yield big operating efficiencies, and 3) re-align capital spending to match revised business plans. He draws on leading-edge financial and operational initiatives from private health systems and the Veterans Administration to illustrate planning details, and he demonstrates how these solutions can be scaled to AMHSCs of all sizes.
