Academic medical center growth depends on making the right decisions on the size and locations of medical education facilities and creating linkages with regional economic development activities. David Madiera and Alex Wing examine different size and location strategies for the education of MDs, nurses, allied health professionals, and continuing medical education programs. They render case study details on programs, facilities, and regional economic growth connected with simulation centers, combined nursing and medical education facilities, and integrated research-education facilities. They examine different results achieved with co-located facility solutions and regionally distributed "hub and spoke" models.
