It is critical to communicate how design features are derived from program requirements and to deliver completed projects that meet user expectations. Genentech uses a Requirements Needs Analysis (RNA) to systematically characterize project components so that all stakeholders, including non-facilities people who are tasked with approving scope and budget, understand each project. Michael Morehead illustrates how the RNA tool is being used to formulate and benchmark office, laboratory, and manufacturing projects, and how the resulting data is being used to estimate future project costs.
