Liquid Chromatography (LC)

Published October 2003

A process in which a chemical mixture carried by a liquid is separated into components as a result of differential distribution of the solutes as they flow around or over a stationary liquid or solid phase. LC is now used to separate both organic molecules as well as biological compounds. Also LC is approved for certain purity tests for the active product ingredient (API) in drug formulations. See also Chromatography and High Pressure Liquid Chromatography.
