Hydrogen peroxide in the vapor (gas) phase, as distinct from the dilute solution of hydrogen peroxide commonly used as a household disinfectant (normally 10 percent hydrogen peroxide dissolved in distilled water). VHP is used in biodecontamination in a dry, low-temperature process that demonstrates broad-spectrum antimicrobial efficacy and materials compatibility. In comparison to other fumigation methods, VHP has an excellent safety and environmental profile.
