Any toxic substance that can be produced by an animal, plant or microbe. Toxins used in biomedical research can be hazardous and require containment. Toxins can be used as biological weapons. Toxins do not reproduce and therefore would have to be produced in mass quantities. Most probable modes of delivery would be aerosols, and contaminated food and/or water.
