Air Supported Structure
Published January 2005
An structure comprised of an exterior impermeable material that creates a weather protection envelope that is then inflated by mechanical means. For all intents and purposes, it is akin to a large balloon that can accommodate habitable space within. There is no structural system, per se, and the only thing holding the exterior skin up is the air pressure inside that is nominally higher than the ambient air pressure. |
