Metabolic Heat Load

In animal facilities, it is necessary to calculate the metabolic heat load of the animals being housed in order to properly design the HVAC system. The heat load contributed by animals is variable, depending upon the number of animals being housed, species, sex, size, level of activity, etc. Using the ASHRAE Handbook series, you can calculate the amount of heat generated by specific animals in specific conditions.
