Charrette

Published February 2000

An intensive group work session or meeting for a group task. After char (work) and -ette (small), the term reportedly comes from French schools of architecture where student teams are required to produce architectural models as a major school project. The models are called charettes (small works); the same term applies to the all-night work sessions that are a customary part of their production.
