The amount of change in a given facility
or organization due to personnel relocation. Churn rate can either be
calculated as the amount of floor space changed per year expressed as a
percentage of the total amount of floor space, or the number of
personnel relocations per year as a percentage of the number of
personnel in the facility. Even if the same worker moves several times
in a year, those moves count in determining the churn rate. It is the
costs associated with moving furniture and materials and the cost of
reconfiguring the vacated space for a new user that are important to the
facilities manager.
