Typically used in a
three-lamp fluorescent parabolic fixture to provide three levels of
light. The center tube of the fixture is connected to a single lamp
ballast with the two outside tubes connected to a two-lamp ballast. The
fixture is wired to allow the center and outside tubes to be switched
independently so that three levels of lighting can be achieved by having
one, two or three lamps operating.
