Leveraged Buyout
Published February 2000
A method for purchasing control of a company through loans based on the company's own assets, rather than on some other collateral. This new debt, when combined with normal levels of business debt, can create cash flow problems that may force companies to sell off divisions or certain assets after such a transaction has occurred.
