Man Trap
Published February 2000
An entry chamber or passageway that is constructed to accommodate one person at a time. The trap has an entry-only door that allows entrance into the chamber and an exit door that must be opened either by a guard or by satisfying the security system pass card or key code. Man traps are used extensively in the banking industry and often in high-security computer facilities. The drawbacks of man traps are the expense of installation and the slowdown of foot traffic.
