Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)

A compilation of information on the identity of hazardous chemicals, exposure limits, health and physical hazards and precautions. Originated by the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970. The 1986 Superfund Amendments and Reauthorization Act (SARA) requires facilities using or storing any of 402 "extremely hazardous substances" to make MSDS available to local authorities. They are also required under the OSHA Communication Standard.
