Microorganisms
Published February 2000
Small, unicellular life forms, such as bacteria. In reference to facilities, they are a source of contamination for high-precision processes, or a potential health hazard to people in indoor environments. Microorganisms such as bacteria can be chemically killed; algae, which are unicellular forms that link together, need to be mechanically removed. Legionnaires' Disease is one example of microorganism contamination of an HVAC system.
