Panel Roof Systems
Published February 2000
A roof framing system using panels—two sheets of 4' X 8' plywood—that are preframed on the ground. The panels are lifted up and placed between purlins, typically eight feet on center, that span between steel or wood glue laminated beam girders supported by columns or walls. Panel roof systems are preferred for many types of one- and two-story buildings because of the structural strength and low cost.
