Use Charge

An amount used in estimating indirect-cost reimbursements of university facilities. It is determined not only by the amount a university spends in non-federal funds to build a new facility, but also by the cost of sustaining existing buildings. The current federally allowable use charge is two percent, based on the assumption that buildings have a 50-year life span.
