Wire Management
Published February 2000
Refers to planning, directing and controlling the electrical and electronic hookups in a building in order to meet the various and changing requirements for office equipment, communications systems, security, lighting and power. Wire management is becoming an important facilities planning issue because of the trend toward flexible space for office reconfiguration and the increasing number and sophistication of communication devices in office buildings. Many structures built as recently as the late 1970s have little or no capacity for communications wiring, and many have cable raceways already full of wires that have unknown beginnings, endings and routes.
