The organization of workers functionally
and/or administratively as a unit with a unique and definable mission.
The workgroup is coordinated by a single manager or supervisor. Although
workgroups in an organization have a mission that makes them unique, in
some cases there may be larger workgroups administratively subdivided to
maintain an appropriate span of control for supervisors. Workgroups can
be organized for sequential work flow (production lines, chain tasks),
independent work (self-completion), or team interaction (group
completion).
