The primary task of the IACUC is to review the research protocols of projects that require the use of animals for the purpose of ensuring compliance with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and institutional policies. IACUCs also review institutional animal use programs and inspect their animal facilities at least twice a year to make sure they are in compliance with those regulations.
