TECHNICAL WRITER Washington Group International Inc. Location: Negotiable based on individual qualifications Description:
Under direct leadership from the Operations Proposal Manager, the Technical Writer prepares the overall technical response to outsourcing initiatives from a variety of sources. Sources may include standard written technical documents (boilerplate); written documents from others; past proposals; and self-written documents. This individual will work with the Washington Group proposal and marketing departments to prepare a formal written response to the solicitation requirements.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop the proposal technical response strategy in concert with the Operations Proposal Manager.
Establish a technical proposal outline to match the response requirements of the solicitation.
Assemble the technical response from a number of sources to include: standard technical documents (boilerplate); written documents from others; past proposals and self-written documents.
Create an overall technical response from several sources to ensure the theme and language has uniform flow and grammar.
Ensure staffing titles match from all levels in the proposal to include: organization charts, operations plans, job descriptions and pricing forms.
Document a separate transition plan using current templates based on the requirements of the solicitation to include: Microsoft Project Gantt Charts, written documents and various flowcharts.
Maintain a detailed task list for each proposal that includes the assignment, owner, dates and status. Schedule to be kept current and made available to the Operations Proposal Manager throughout the proposal development period.
Work closely with the marketing and proposal groups to ensure the technical response is a professional and high quality document.
Develop both hardcopy and electronic technical responses using a variety of application software to include a linked table of contents, table of figures and appendices.
Participate in formal reviews of our technical solution with appropriate individuals prior to proposal submission.
Typical Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Facility Management, Marketing, or Business Management.
Experience: 3+ years experience within an engineering or facility management company developing technical proposals for new business. 5+ years general experience in developing professional electronic media using current application software features (linked tables, contents, figures, etc.).
Specific Responsibilities: Direct development of written technical documents from a variety of sources to prepare a proposed solution.
Specific Skills: Extensive experience with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat software. Strong experience with Microsoft application software to include: Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Projects. Extensive experience with proper formatting of technical documents in the sales and marketing industry.
