College of Engineering Facilities Director University of Notre Dame Location: Notre Dame, IN Description:
Additional duties include the following:
- Represent the College faculty and staff on new building and existing facility renovations project teams including architectural, construction, and maintenance teams. Provide liaison support for project teams to assure appropriate input to team decisions through the planning, development, construction, and occupation phases of projects.
- Perform periodic needs analysis with College faculty and staff to identify gaps required to support the College's mission. Work with University architectural staff to determine financial impact of projects required to bridge facility gaps.
- Coordinate the day-to-day operations and maintenance of Engineering facilities including class 100/1000 nano-electronic fabrication clean room facilities. Plan and coordinate with academic department staff and University maintenance staff the periodic maintenance and repair of clean rooms, computer rooms, and other high tech facilities.
- ChairCollege project teams required for the logistic planning of facility renovations and new building occupations. This includes teams supporting equipment installation and certification as well as safety policy development. Chair college's safety committee.
- Maintain the College's facility database with occupation assignments. Support the Dean's office planning and decision making on facility assignments. Coordinate the submission and prioritization of Academic Space project requests. Monitor and approve Facility requests submitted from the College personnel.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in Engineering, Architecture, or Engineering Technology. A Master's degree or an MBA is desirable. A Professional Engineering license is desirable.
Must possess 3 - 5 years experience in the design, construction, operation and/or maintenance of clean rooms and fume hoods. Experience in the design, construction, operation, and/or maintenance of water scrubbing systems is desirable. Must have project management experience on any team based project. Construction management or building design experience is desirable. A demonstrated knowledge of construction practices or facility design is required.
Must possess the following:
- Working knowledge of clean room facility operations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Access or equivalent database software, as well as other MS Office applications.
- A talking knowledge of construction technologies, techniques and a general appreciation for state and federal building codes is required.
- The ability to work both on a team and on an individual basis.
- Project management skills including planning and scheduling as well as effective meeting organization skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- A working knowledge cost estimating, budgeting, and cost monitoring.
