Managing Engineer M.D. Anderson Cancer Center Location: Houston, TX Description:
The Managing Engineer provides leadership in design services in the development of studies, reports, and construction bid documents including schematic design, design development documents, construction drawings, and technical specifications. Complies with applicable building codes and other regulatory requirements governing the provision of design services. Complies with departmental and institutional standards for facility projects, and aids in their development. Periodically reviews procedures and standards. Assures the review of contractor submittals, requests for information, change proposals and other construction administration documents for design intent. Assures the development of construction change proposals to correct design errors and omissions and to implement changes to the scope of work. Manages the development and implementation of man-hour budgets according to industry standards for delivery of engineering design services. Periodically visits construction sites to determine compliance with design intent. Reports construction discrepancies, errors, and omissions.
Seals construction documents as Engineer of Record when the Chief Design Engineer is unavailable. Develops modifications of standard details and guide specifications. Acts in capacity of Chief Engineer when not available. Supervises the work of Engineers, Engineering Specialists, and M.E.P. Design
Qualifications:
·Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree preferred
·Ten years of engineering design experience with an emphasis on the design of facility systems. Five years of healthcare or research design experience is highly preferred.
·Registered Professional Engineer (P.E), State of Texas required.
