Sr. Planner/ Architect Genentech Location: South San Francisco, CA Description:
RESPONSIBILITIES: Reporting to the Director of Facilities Planning the Strategic Planner will be located in SSF and will be assigned functions amongst Genentech's Manufacturing Division to ensure that Genentech's Space, Capital Projects and Land assets are allocated to support the Corporate Business Plan. The planner will manage their relationships with each customer to proactively provide excellent facilities planning services to meet changing business needs.
Responsibilities include identifying and justifying future projects for the Capital Long Range Plan which includes leading the development of Feasibility Studies for Major Capital Projects within the manufacturing division, comparative analysis of alternate solutions, risk analyses, project approval presentations to Senior Management and working with Project Management through Conceptual Design to assure program and design consistency with corporate and departmental needs.
Additionally the planner will measure and track utilization, prepare demand/capacity studies, and propose space allocation solutions that consider three, five and ten year scenarios and, in concert with the site planning team, update Genentech's Campus Master Plans and planning guidelines.
The ideal candidate will have overall manufacturing experience including large molecule biomanufacturing, piloting, scale up and fill and finish facilities. The Planner will directly service Genentech senior managers, lead cross-functional teams and manage design consultants as projects require.
REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Architecture, Planning or equivalent. MBA or other Masters degree preferred. This position requires an exceptionally high degree of proven interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly communicate with all levels of the corporation and represent Genentech to outside consultants and government officials. The position requires proven problem solving and exceptional analytical skills. Must be conscientious and self-motivated. Minimum 8 years of experience in the pharmaceutical or architectural/engineering industry (working on pharmaceutical manufacturing projects) with expertise in feasibility studies and conceptual design. General knowledge of capital project development methods and procedures. Must have a high level of computer skills including Excel, Word and Powerpoint, and familiarity with AutoCad software.
