The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation is dedicated to conserving the tangible and intangible assets that are its heritage, creating architecture and maintaining resident communities of scholars in thetradition of Taliesin,and educating a worldwide audience about the continuing relevance of Frank Lloyd Wright’s ideas. Established in 1940, the Foundation has recently launched a regeneration and rededication to its initial purposes.
The Foundation owns and manages two Wright National Historic Landmark properties: Taliesin in Spring Green, Wisconsin, and Taliesin West in Scottsdale, Arizona.It also runs the FrankLloydWrightSchool of Architecture and is responsible for preserving and managing the Frank Lloyd Wright Archives.The Taliesin Fellowship, a residential community of people long associated with Mr. Wright and the school, is an integral part of the life of the Foundation. Headquartered at Taliesin West in Scottsdale, the Foundation has a staff of 50 and a $6 million operating budget.
The Foundation seeks a vice president to manage the development and execution of a master plan for restoring and managing the buildings, land, and infrastructure of both Taliesin and Taliesin West and for developing new facilities on both campuses.Reporting to the president and CEO, this newly-created position will manage a small facilities staff and a
$1 million maintenance budget.Both budget and staff capacity for this function are expected to grow.
Responsibilities
·Working with the CEO, the chair of the board’s Resources Committee, resident Foundation expertise, and external consultants, lead an assessment of stabilization, preservation, and space needsand subsequentdevelopment of a comprehensive master plan for both campuses; using outside consultants as necessary, oversee detailed planning for realizing all components of the plan.
·Recommend capital projects to the CEO and the board Finance Committee chair for discussion and approval; coordinate and manage all construction, preservation, land management, and infrastructure projects on both campuses, engaging outside consultants and contractors as appropriate. Report regularly to the board and CEO on current priorities and progress against targets and deadlines.
·Develop and implement detailed maintenance plans to ensure the uninterrupted operation of all facilities.
·Assess current staff planning, restoration, and maintenance capabilities and recommend needed improvements and/or realignment of responsibilities.Manage and, as needed, reorganize maintenance and restoration staff.
·Develop and manage all relevant budgets and provide regular financial reports to the CEO and board.
Qualifications
·A minimum of 20 years’ progressively responsible experience in historic preservation, construction planning and management, contract negotiation and management, and/or facilities management including significant executive-level experience at a scale and complexity relevant to this position; an advanced degree in architecture, engineering, or other relevant field; additionally, an MBA or other advanced management degree is preferred.
·Thorough knowledge of construction technology, materials, and finance, of building information modeling and multi-dimensional CAD systems, and of the ways in which the interest of outside firms can be competitively solicited and evaluated.
·Understanding of and deep commitment to Frank Lloyd Wright’s principles of organic architecture and to the Foundation’s mission; an interest in translating both to the needs and interests of a 21st Century organization.
·Available for travel between the Arizona and Wisconsin campuses.

He or she will have the energy, skill, and business acumen to envision and lead a comprehensive, long-term effort not only to restore these two landmark campuses but to develop them in ways that will preserve their beauty and ensure their relevance for the rest of this century and beyond.
