Director of Facilities The Children's Museum of Indianapolis Location: Indianapolis, IN Description:
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develop 1-year and 5-year strategic plans in support of the museum strategic plan for the maintenance and overall care of the museum facilities, grounds, and building systems and for the Facilities and Operations Department processes and staffing.
2. Lead the Facilities and Operations Department staff in performing effective and efficient maintenance and overall care of the museum facilities and grounds.
Manage the operation of all museum building systems.
Define and implement a formal method of work order request and tracking.
Implement preventive maintenance schedules and management of project backlogs.
Define and implement a formal quality assurance program.
Define and implement metrics for continuous improvement.
Ensure work areas are clean, inventoried, and maintained in a professional manner.
Conduct regular detailed reviews of the facility and grounds and document the results.Create and implement plans to address areas needing improvement.
Review on a continual basis all standards, policies, and procedures for the department and modify as needed.Identify, define, and implement new standards, policies, and procedures as needed.
Review all operations, maintenance, and new construction to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, codes, and guidelines.
Ensure the staff is aware of and capable of meeting all applicable laws, regulations, codes, and guidelines.
Review all uses of outsourced services and perform a cost/benefit analysis to determine the advisability of doing the work in-house.Conversely, identify potential staff work that could be outsourced and perform a cost/benefit analysis to determine feasibility.
Develop and manage the Facilities and Operations Department budget.Create monthly budget projections and use this information to make informed decisions regarding expenditures.
On a continual basis, review staffing levels and responsibilities to determine optimum staffing levels and responsibilities.Recommend changes to improve efficiency and effectiveness and to conform to possible budget constraints.
Administer contracts and manage the use of outside contractors.
Participate as a member of the museum ECT team in managing museum emergency situations.
Collaborate closely with Exhibit Development staff in the production of permanent and traveling museum exhibits.
Participate in the leadership of the museum at the director level.
