Senior Project Manager - Science + Technology HDR, Inc. Location: San Francisco, CA Description:

Position Description: The position will be responsible for the leadership and delivery of Science and Technology projects. Projects can include R&D laboratories with cleanrooms components, pilot plants, manufacturing facilities, and related support facilities such as administrative offices, central utility plants, data centers, etc. Projects assignments will largely be within the Western Region of the United States
This position will be responsible for maintaining strong client relationships throughout the life of a project. Responsibilities include: assistance with project specific pursuit activities such as qualifications, interviews and proposals; contract negotiations; design team leadership through design and construction phases, and client relations following completion of projects. The position will provide technical leadership for multidisciplinary teams, planning, directing, coordinating, and monitoring all aspects of large complex projects. This position will be responsible for the project budget and will work closely with the Regional Controller and Managing Principal for project financial reviews. This position typically supervises large project staffs and acts as mentor for less experienced Project Managers. Additionally, this role is expected to be capable of managing several projects concurrently.
Experience on large scale laboratory projects is required. The candidate should have managed at least three major projects, greater than $50 million each, to completion for public, private and/or institutional clients.
Experience as a part of the core sales team in securing projects is required. At a minimum, this must include experience supporting the proposal development, including experience as a primary participant in the interview and in negotiating scope/contract upon selection.
Experience Required: Bachelors or Masters Degree in Architecture. Registered Architect, preferably in the State of California. 15+ years of experience in Science + Technology projects, preferably including experience with biosciences related projects. Experience with vivarium and cGMP facilities is beneficial. Strong team leadership, mentoring, organizational, and communication skills are essential. Computer literate with MS Office, AutoCAD and/or Microstation. Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required. Ability to travel is required.
